On November 15, Guizhou University (GZU) held a ceremony to mark the building of a pilot demonstration area at the University, promoting “Three Comprehensive Educational Approaches” (whole-person education, whole-process education, and all-round education) in line with the guideline of the Ministry of Education. At the same time, the event celebrated the opening of “Guizhou Green Tea” Multi-Functional Center, which is managed by the College of Tea Science of GZU. Present at the meeting were Fu Chuanyao, former deputy chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Guizhou Province, chairman of Guizhou Tea Culture Institute, and director of the Strategic Development Committee of the College of Tea Science; Zhang Daling, vice president and member of the CPC Standing Committee of GZU, President of the College of People’s Armed Forces of GZU; Wang Lijun, Counsel of Guizhou Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Other participants included officials from the People’s Government of Zhenfeng and Pu’an County, coordinators from relevant departments of GZU, and representatives from enterprises.

Fu Chuanyao made a keynote speech highlighting the guidelines of the 20th National Congress of the CPC. He noted that, since the 19th CPC National Congress in 2017, the CPC Central Committee led by President Xi Jinping has unified the whole Party, the armed forces and all ethnic groups, providing most effective guidance for its people. In the face of grave and complex international situations, the Party has learned to deal with a series of major risks and challenges, vigorously pushing forward socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era. Best of all, its experience has demonstrated that the success of our Party and socialism with Chinese characteristics is closely connected with Marxism, whose fundamental principles have worked well with traditional Chinese culture. Only in this way,can we deal with issues commonly seen during our times and practices. This, however, would require us to acquire a deep understanding about the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, such as the significance of the two “assurances”, the four “self-confidences”, and two “safeguardings”. Lastly, he urged us to bear in mind our mission for the new era and play a greater role in realizing modernization in Guizhou and the great rejuvenation of China.

At the ceremony, representatives of Zhenfeng County donated “Guishan White Tea” to GZU, worth 1.2 million yuan. Likewise, Colleges of Tea Science and Fine Arts have received gifts such as tea and other materials, worth nearly 380,000 yuan, from Zhenfeng County, Changtian Town, Guizhou Pu’an Black Tea Company, Guizhou Polar Bear Clean water Group, Guizhou Heijiu Tea Company, and Guizhou Lv’anlan Tea LLC. These donations resulted from the joint efforts in lifting poverty, among GZU colleges of Tea Science, Fine Arts, and Literature and Communication, who have been providing technological assistance for villagers in these areas since 2016, particularly at Changtian Town in Zhenfeng County. GZU has thus been able to make strategic plans and further promote the integrated mode of “production plus promotion”, typically seen in tea industry. In the meantime, faculty representatives from the College of Tea Science briefed on their experience in tea research and its development, including their efforts in realizing rural revitalization in recent years. Meanwhile, experts and business representatives shared their experience in tea industry.

Following the ceremony, participants paid a visit to the multi-functional center of “Guizhou Green Tea” on campus. Here, GZU intends to make it a site for its pilot demonstration area, where the “Three Comprehensive Educational Approaches” (whole-person education, whole-process education, and all-round education) can be promoted. This is the area where “Guizhou Green Tea” is served, together with some other forms of activities to be held to bolster the history of the Party, the progress of the University, and the community bonding among Party groups, labor unions, and student bodies. To be sure, this is a place where students and faculty can explore the essence of “Three Comprehensive Educational Approaches” while enjoying tea culture.
