On November 1st, an activity was held at GZU with the intention to show care and encouragement for the students who were about to take the upcoming postgraduate examination. During the activity, Linghu Caitao, deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of GZU, along with a team of representatives from the university’s Communist Youth League Committee and the Student Union, paid a visit to the students who were preparing for the exam in the library with special presents such as scarves, milk, candies, and cards.

Besides presents, the team brought to students some sweetest and encouraging words: “It is getting cold. We have these scarves for you to keep warm; we made these scarves ourselves and they represent best wishes from all the students on the campus, as you are our models. We do hope that you live up to your expectations.” Students were so touched by their kindest words and most heartwarming gifts. Shortly after the surprising visit, they left the venue so that the students could get back to study.

This visit was such an amazement to those students. “That’s quite a surprise. I am tremendously encouraged because I get this unique gift when under huge pressure. I really appreciate those who have shown us care and concern, including our professors and fellow classmates. I do hope that all the exam takers can make it in the preliminary examination for postgraduate candidates.” said Cui Jing, one of the exam takers from the College of Forestry. Mu Yanling, student from the College of Public Administration, also expressed her gratitude, saying, “As the exam is nearing, I am becoming more stressed out and worried. A sudden change of the weather could overwhelm me; the relentless cold here in Guiyang could only make me more anxious. But the gifts have brought me warmth. I think I really feel the encouragement from teachers and fellow students. I also wish everyone good luck.”

Over a month ago, in order to make this visit happen and bring students scarves, GZU organizers put together an activity on campus calling on volunteers to knit scarves. Students and teachers signed up to help, including deputy secretary Linhu Caitao.  People who offered to help did it in various ways: some skillful knitters made a couple more; some green hands at needlework took training lessons to make one; some knitted one with collective efforts; and some others even covered the expenses for the knitting materials to make one. With such joint efforts, scarves in need were made ready, in time for the team to deliver blessings to postgraduate exam takers.
