On December 17th, “2022 New Think Tank Governance Forum” was held in Nanjing, co-hosted by Nanjing University and Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Social Sciences. The forum released the list of the best cases and outstanding achievements of Chinese think tanks in 2022. Guizhou High-end Think Tank on Primary-level Governance Innovation of Guizhou University, one of the first batch of new think tanks with characteristics, won both the “Best Case Award for Think Tanks” and the“Grand Prize for Outstanding Achievements”.

The “New Think Tank Governance Forum” is an influential symposium co-founded by the Center for Chinese Think Tank Studies and Evaluation of Nanjing University and the Guangming Daily Think Tank Research and Release Center. It aims to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks on the construction of new type of think tanks with Chinese characteristics to promote the healthy development of new think tanks, and help modernize China's decision-making and consulting system. The forum has been held for five years since 2016.

From the 603 think tank achievements submitted, the forum selected 225 winners, including 63 grand prizes, 84 first prizes and 78 second prizes. “Promoting Digital Technology to Empower Ecological Environmental Protection” (published in the Economic Daily on 4 January 2022) by Professor Li Jianjun, the chief expert of GZU’s Guizhou High-end Think Tank on Primary-level Governance Innovation won the grand prize for outstanding achievement. In addition, the forum selected 72 best cases of think tank construction, including 14 benchmark cases, 23 model cases and 35 excellent cases. The case of “Major National Strategy for Rural Revitalization” submitted by Guizhou University was on the list of outstanding cases.

So far, Guizhou High-end Think Tank on Primary-level Governance Innovation is still the only think tank selected as a source of the China Think Tank Index (CTTI) in Guizhou. It is also the only think tank selected to participate in the forum. The think tank was approved by the Publicity Department of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee in November 2019, with Li Jianjun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Guizhou University, as the chief expert and Professor Wu Guoyong as the executive deputy director in charge of daily management.
