The State Intellectual Property Office and the General Office of MOE recently announced the list of the fourth batch of 23 national intellectual property information service centers that were set up in colleges and universities. GZU was included in the list, being the only university in Guizhou Province listed among the fourth batch of National Intellectual Property Information Service Centers.

The GZU Intellectual Property Information Service Center, affiliated with the GZU Library, was established in December 2019. Since its inception, it has been drawing on the academic advantages and talents of the university to carry out intellectual property services such as patent information services, patent transformation, education and training on intellectual property, and construction of intellectual property database. As a university-based national intellectual property information service center, this center will further leverage the advantages of the university in information resources and human resources, and continue to expand its scope of intellectual property information services. The GZU Intellectual Property Information Service Center will stay committed to helping build GZU as a model university in the national pilot program of intellectual property, promoting collaborative innovation and transfer/transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the university, and serving the country’s innovation-driven development strategy and high-quality development.

The selection and building of National Intellectual Property Information Service Centers in colleges and universities is an important initiative to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions on “forming an intellectual property public service system that provides better convenience to the people and ensures that the gains of innovation can better benefit the people”. It embodies the effort to act on major national arrangements and plans for intellectual property work, and it is a crucial measure to boost the construction of national intellectual property information public service outlets and enhance the information public service capabilities and levels of colleges and universities in intellectual property creation, utilization, protection, management and services.
