On Feb. 4^th, the 8th Vocal Music Performance of National Higher Art Colleges & the 10^th Vocal Music Forum China came to a close. Among contestants from over 80 higher art colleges and universities, GZU students stood out and won 7 awards, including a gold award.

Recognized as an important event in the music circles, this vocal music performance is highly professional, gathering representatives of Chinese musicians, singers and educators.  At the Forum, attendees discussed the research achievements of Chinese vocal art in recent years, and analyzed the opportunities and challenges in this field. The event plays a role in promoting Chinese music and art education, and the innovation and development of vocal art in the new era.

On the evening of February 1^st, Mu Weiping, a GZU professor and famous tenor, performed in the opening concert and served as an expert judge in the contest.

Guided by Professor Tan Jing, four GZU students from College of Music went through the preliminary selection to the final and received good results. Tao Yujie and Wu Yuqi won the Gold Award and the Excellence Award for the undergraduate group, and Zheng Dengke and Zhao Changgu, the Excellence Awards for the graduate group.

The outstanding result shows the high-quality education and talent cultivation of College of Music of GZU, encouraging faculty in the collegeto continue the efforts to develop top-class national academic disciplines and further contribute to art education of Guizhou Province.
