“Base for Introducing Talents of Public Big Data” Approved to Establish at GZU

Recently, “Base for Introducing Talents of Public Big Data”,proposed by the State Key Laboratory of Public Big Data, has been approved to establish at Guizhou University (GZU), which is another significant breakthrough for GZU in the construction of national-level discipline innovation platform under the “Double First-Class” initiative.

The researchers of the Base include more than 30 experts from GZU and from the United States, France, Canada, Slovakia, Belgium, Sudan, and Sri Lanka, among whom there are 5 academicians from home and abroad. With a focus on three research directions, namely, public big data integration, public big data security and privacy protection, and block data and regional governance, the Base carries out international exchanges and cooperation on a long-term and stable basis.

Guided by the national big data strategic goals, GZU will strive to develop the Base into a high-level scientific and technological innovation base influential in the field of big data home and abroad, into an excellent talent training base, and into a promoter of domestic and foreign cooperation. It will provide strong technological support for the development of big data and the digital economy.

The Base is supported by “Programme of Introducing Talents of Discipline to Universities” (or “111 Programme”) jointly organized and implemented by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology. As a significant measure to promote the independent innovation of Chinese universities and to build world-class universities, the “111 Programme aims to establish about 100 world-class bases for introducing talents of discipline to universities andintroduce 1,000 outstanding talents from the top 100 universities and research institutes in the world to build high-level research teams. In this way, the Programme carries out high-level cooperative research and academic exchanges, creates globally influential technological achievements, enhances the international competitiveness of disciplines, and improves the overall level and international status of Chinese universities.
