On July 25, Guizhou University hosted the 15th Anniversary Seminar of the "China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week" at the Chinese Culture Academy on the east campus. GZU Vice-President Zhou Shaoqi attended the meeting, with representatives from relevant departments and colleges of GZU. The gathering also featured the active participation of 16 international students hailing from ASEAN countries, including Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

Professor Zhang Qing, dean of GZU's Chinese Culture Academy, introduced the academy's academic research, cultural heritage, and quality education. He also presented the essence of traditional Chinese culture, discussing concepts like "benevolence and harmony", "education without discrimination", "teaching according to individual aptitudes", "universal brotherhood", and "the unity of man and nature". Professor Zhang also noted the visits of national leaders to the academy and their high expectations for young students to set lofty goals, refine their skills, and achieve success.

During the seminar, student representatives engaged in discussions covering a wide range of topics, including "campus life," "impressions of Guizhou," and "win-win cooperation between China and ASEAN." An Nan from Myanmar articulated her perspective, saying, "Through the establishment of the China-ASEAN community of shared future, both sides have engaged in extensive exchanges and cooperation in technology, education, ecological environment, etc. I aspire to become a Chinese language teacher in the future, promoting Chinese culture and fostering bridges of friendly cooperation between the two nations." Ke Ran from Laos emphasized the potential of "Cooperation between China and ASEAN in trade, logistics, education, etc., to drive industrial development, enhance people's lives, and provide more opportunities and choices for the populace." Meanwhile, Wu Qixuan from Indonesia focused her graduation project on Damu Village in Xiuwen County, Guiyang City, delving into the Bouyei culture and ancient tree culture. She strongly believes that Damu Village, with its rich culture and ecological features, merits attention both domestically and internationally.

Vice President Zhou Shaoqi delivered the concluding speech, emphasizing the extensive and profound nature of the discussions during the seminar. He noted that the students demonstrated depth, breadth, and vision in their remarks. Vice-President Zhou expressed his hope that students would cherish their time, dedicate themselves to their studies, and attain great achievements at Guizhou University. Recognizing international students as ambassadors of friendship between China and ASEAN countries, he emphasized their significant responsibilities and encouraged them to set ambitious goals, think critically, seek opportunities for continuous growth, and continue to serve as bridges, further contributing to the development of China-ASEAN relations.

It is noteworthy that the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, which commenced in 2008, has seen remarkable growth over 15 years, with expanding participation and notable accomplishments. Over this period, the Cooperation Week has nurtured numerous impactful collaborative projects, bolstered cultural exchanges, and made substantial contributions to the "Belt and Road" initiative. 2023 marks the 16th anniversary of the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week. The 2023 Cooperation Week themed "New Vision for Educational Cooperation, Common Prosperity for Belt and Road," is scheduled to be held from August 28th to September 2nd at the permanent venue for the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week in Guiyang. GZU will oversee nine opening projects and eleven annual projects for this year's Cooperation Week.
