On behalf of GZU, Zhou Shaoqi welcomed the delegation and introduced GZU, including its historical development and discipline construction. He mentioned that GZU adheres to an open approach in its education, consistently advancing international exchanges and cooperation. Currently, it has established friendly and cooperative relationships with 195 universities and research institutions in 43 countries, as well as in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. It is also a base for foreign aid education of the Ministry of Education, a base for international scientific and technological cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and a base for higher education discipline innovation and intelligence introduction, playing an active role in several international organizations such as the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization. He pointed out that GZU, through various forms of collaborative exchanges with Malaysian universities, has deepened educational cooperation and communication between China and Malaysia and explored new directions, goals, and priorities for educational exchanges and cooperation. He hoped that the visit of President Amiya Bhaumik and Chairman Ma Xingli would mark the starting point of the cooperation between the two universities, deepening mutual understanding, trust, and exploring potential for collaboration in broader fields, as well as contributing to the development of both sides.

Amiya Bhaumik thanked GZU for the invitation and believed that the cooperation projects between the two sides could be further promoted. Lincoln University College, with a vision of providing higher education to students worldwide, has been expanding its projects and opportunities for international cooperation and exchange. The college focuses on enhancing the quality of higher education and its number of PhD programs ranks among the forefront in Malaysia. Professors of LUC are from various universities in Europe and Asia, and it encourages students to actively participate in research activities and publish in journals. He suggested that GZU and LUC could jointly establish an international college and develop cooperative programs in clinical medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and other disciplines. He hoped that the cooperation would be deepened further so as to promote the joint development between the two sides.

Ma Xingli introduced the background of the World Chinese Association. He pointed out that the Association serves as a bridge connecting global Chinese community with China and has made significant contributions to the country’s development by promoting understanding of China among overseas Chinese and fostering the development of sports. Ma mentioned that the Association has decided to establish a scholarship at GZU for Lincoln University College, hoping that it would further promote the development of GZU.

The two sides also had in-depth discussions on joint talent training programs, the upgrading of academic qualifications for faculty, the development of scientific research projects, and the establishment of relevant research bases. At the end of the symposium, an inter-university cooperation agreement was signed between GZU and LUC.
